The challenges of modernizing the state and its administration have increased, especially with regard to the targeted application of Internet technologies. By means of eDemocracy, it is intended to support the exchange of knowledge as well as democratic processes. In addition, eGovernment aims to put digital public services at the disposal of the citizens, companies, and organizations.
The University of Fribourg, Switzerland cooperates with Universidad de las Fuerzas Armadas (ESPE), Universidad de Las Américas (UDLA), Universidad Técnica de Ambato (UTA), Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral, Ecuador (ESPOL), Secretariat of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation of Ecuador (SENESCYT), and Instituto de Altos Estudios Nacionales (IAEN), to organize these series of International Conferences on eDemocracy \& eGovernment (ICEDEG).
The main objective is to discuss the regions' transition to an information and knowledge society that will accelerate and enhance regional economic, social, cultural and technological development and exchange. The conference took place on April 4-6, 2018, at Universidad Técnica de Ambato, Ambato, Ecuador.
