The University of Fribourg had the honor and big pleasure to welcome Jan Jenisch, CEO of LafargeHolcim, for a presentation on 18 March this year. Mr. Jenisch was talking about how to lead a global business
LafargeHolcim has more than 70,000 employees and holds leading positions in all regions across the globe in the cement, aggregate, and concrete industry. The headquarters is in Switzerland. Jan Jenisch, a graduate of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences of the University of Fribourg, joined LafargeHolcim as CEO on September 2017.
After presenting the company, Mr. Jenisch explained his principles and success factors of global leadership. “If it cannot be explained simple, you do not understand it enough,” Jenisch said. One of the key messages of the presentation was, to establish one simple framework of vision, strategy, and targets.
After the presentation a lively question and answer session about topics such as the company culture, sustainability and digital management took place. In addition, personal questions such as ‘How do you manage your work-life-balance’ have also found a place in the Q&A.
