  • Research colloquium in sociology, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Lucerne, March 17, 2026. Sébastien presented his research agenda and papers on democracy and organizations.
  • European Group for Organizational Studies (EGOS) Online Colloquium, July 9-11, 2026: Sébastien Mwill convene the sub-theme Social Movements, Alternative Organizations, and the Democratization of the Economy together with Simone Schiller-Merkens (Witten/Herdecke University) and Philip Balsiger (Université de Neuchâtel).
  • SASE 2026 conference at Sciences Po Bordeaux, France, July 1-4, 2026. The paper ‘Political innovation: How intermediary organizations enhance democratic agency’ by Johanna Mair (EUI), Sébastien Mena and Melisa Özcelik (Hertie School) was accepted for presentation in Network A: Community, Democracy, and Organizations.

PhD examinations
Sébastien Mena was on the committee of two doctoral students this Spring:

  • Nik Ulrich defended his dissertation entitled Re-entry in foreign markets: A Multi-Level Analysis of Antecedents, Mechanisms, and Performance at the University of Fribourg on May 8.
  • Fenja Nolting defended her dissertation entitled Organizations, Institutions, and Societal Challenges – A study of organized efforts addressing institutional pathologies at the Hertie School of Governance, Berlin, Germany on June 9.

New position
Sébastien Mena has been appointed as Commentaries Editor (previously Associate Editor) at the journal Business & Society.
