As of January 1, 2026, Alexandra Bertschi-Michel has joined the SES Faculty as Professor of Strategic Management II with focus on SMEs and family-owned businesses in the Department of Management. At the University of Fribourg Alexandra Bertschi-Michel teaches \u201cEinf\u00fchrung in die BWL\u201d at the Bachelor level and offers lectures and Seminars on \u201cStrategic Management of privately-owned firms\u201d at the Master level. She looks forward to interacting with the students in her courses and to supervising scientific research at all levels. <\/span>She obtained her PhD at the University of St. Gallen in 2016 and then conducted postdoctoral research at University of Bern where she obtained her Venia Docendi \u201cHabilitation\u201d in 2023. Her research interests focus on succession planning, financing decisions, governance and emotional aspects in privately-owned SMEs and family businesses. Her papers have been published in international Journals such as \u201cEntrepreneurship Theory and Practice\u201d, \u201cLong Range Planning\u201d, \u201cThe Journal of Technology Transfer\u201d, and \u201cFamily Business Review\u201d.
<\/span>Besides her academic career, Alexandra Bertschi-Michel has been active in practice in advising SMEs and family businesses in financing and succession-related matters for more than 15 years.<\/span><\/p>\n
